My name is Rich Shulman, I design & build all RichTone Instruments.
I've been building instruments since 1997, and have completed over 100. I primarily concentrate on building acoustic & electric mandolins, and short-scale "baby" banjos. However, I have built other instruments, such as: octave mandolin, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, electric banjo, mando-banjo, stand-up electric bass, full size wood-top banjo, "baby" acoustic guitar, "baby" mandolin, and fiddle, along with quite a few "hybrid" instruments.
The construction feature that makes RichTone acoustic instruments unique is that the sides, neck, and headstock are made from one solid piece of wood. RichTone Instruments contain no bent wood. I had completed 51 instruments when I came to find out that this style of construction was very similar to an early mandolin design by Orville Gibson!
I enjoy building "hybrid" instruments. So, if you have an idea for an instrument, but have been unable to realize that vision, maybe we can realize it together.
